The Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System (SCERS) filed
a breach of contract lawsuit on April 19 in Sacramento Superior
Court against Telus for failing to deliver a technological
project.
Your 2023 Annual Statement will be mailed this week. Please
allow sufficient time for mail processing, but let us know if you
do not receive it by March 11.
On February 21, 2023, the SCERS Board adopted the following
cost-of-living adjustments (COLA), effective April 1, 2024, for
members with retirement dates on or before March 31, 2024:
In observance of President Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday, SCERS
will be closed on Monday, Feb. 12th but will return
to normal business hours on Tuesday, Feb. 13th.
If you plan to visit SCERS on Tuesday, February 13th, please
know that film production activity will resume near the
SCERS office at 980 9th Street (Park Tower) and may impact
traffic and parking.
If you plan to visit SCERS this week, please be aware that
on Tuesday, February 6th, and Wednesday, February
7, film production near the SCERS
office at 980 9th Street (Park Tower) will limit street
access to the building between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
SCERS has been made aware of a data breach involving Keenan, the
County’s broker for health insurance and other cafeteria plan
benefits, that affects County retirees. SCERS is not involved in
this matter and no SCERS data was impacted.
In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, SCERS will be
closed on Monday, January 15, but will return to normal business
hours on Tuesday, January 16.
Employer and employee contribution rates to SCERS are both set to
decrease slightly next year, based on an actuarial analysis being
presented to the Board of Retirement on December 6.
Open enrollment for Sacramento County retiree medical benefits is
currently open until October 27th through the
Sacramento County Employee Benefits Office. Please note that
SCERS is unable to answer questions about health plans or assist
in open enrollment.
Effective as of the September 29, 2023 payday, an increase in
dues for Sacramento County Retired Employees Association (SCREA)
membership will be reflected in SCERS’ pension payments.
