Appointed by the Board of Supervisors

Mr. Suter joined the Board in May 2022. His current term expires June 30, 2024.

Ronald Suter has 40+ years’ experience working in public parks and recreation, city governments, and special districts, including 25 years with Sacramento County where he served eight years as Regional Parks Director before retiring in 2006.

Since 2008, Mr. Suter has served on the Sacramento County Civil Service Commission. In May 2022, he was appointed to the SCERS Board, on which he previously served 12 years as an elected Miscellaneous member.

Mr. Suter has served on numerous parks-related foundations and has been a Rotary member since 1984, achieving multiple Paul Harris recognitions and serving on the Rotary Board and the Elk Grove Rotary Foundation.     

Married for nearly 50 years, Mr. Suter and his wife Patty have two adult children and four grandchildren. He enjoys biking along the American River Parkway, gardening, international travel, and especially time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Suter has a master’s in Public Administration from CSU, Sacramento.
