Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System (SCERS) has hired James Donohue as Deputy Chief Investment Officer (Deputy CIO).  The Deputy CIO assists in the formulation and evaluation of investment policies and strategy, the development of the asset allocation and asset class structures, the risk management framework, and the oversight and selection of investment managers and service providers of the $9.2 billion fund.

Previously, Donohue served as the Private Equity Director for the American National Red Cross endowment and defined-benefit plans.  Prior to the American National Red Cross, Donohue was with Keyhaven Capital Partners, a European fund of funds and advisory firm located in the United Kingdom.

Donohue has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Utah, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Claremont McKenna College.   He will assume the Deputy CIO role in early January 2019.  The position has been vacant since SCERS’ Chief Investment Officer, Steve Davis, was promoted from Deputy CIO in 2016.
